How to report a fake store to Cosmotown

Report a fake store on a Cosmotown domain. Which report type to pick on Cosmotown's portal, what each asks for, and a copy-paste phishing report.

Cosmotown is a domain registrar. Its legal name is TuringSign Inc., so a domain lookup may show “Turingsign Inc.” or “TuringSign Inc. d/b/a Cosmotown”. It is one of the registrars we see most often on clones of Shopify stores, after Dynadot.

Cosmotown takes reports through an online portal with a separate form for each type of abuse.

Checked against Cosmotown’s portal and help pages on October 14, 2026. This is not legal advice. Cosmotown can change its process, so check the linked pages before you report.

When should you report a fake store to Cosmotown?

Enter the clone’s domain at ICANN Lookup. If the registrar shows Cosmotown or TuringSign, report the domain to Cosmotown.

Cosmotown’s portal offers these report types: Phishing, Spam, Copyright Violation, Trademark / Cybersquatting, Trademark Infringement, CSAM, Non-Consensual Explicit Content, Illegal Pharmacy, Fake Whois Information, Defamation, and Malware / Botnets.

For a fake store that asks shoppers to pay or to enter card details, choose Phishing. Send your copyright notice to the clone’s host, which stores the copied photos and text.

How do you report a fake store to Cosmotown?

  1. Save the evidence first. Take dated, full-page screenshots of the clone’s home page, a product page and the checkout. Do not enter real card details.
  2. Confirm the registrar at ICANN Lookup.
  3. Open the Cosmotown report portal and choose Phishing.
  4. Fill in the fields. The phishing form asks for your name, email, the domain, the “Full Domain Path” and a screenshot. You can add “VPN/Proxy Location(s) and/or User-Agent(s)”.
  5. Upload one screenshot. The form accepts PNG, JPG or PDF up to 2 MB. Put the clone and your real page side by side in one image if you can.
  6. Paste the description below, if the form has a free text field.
  7. Log the report. Note the date, the domain and any reference.

Cosmotown’s public registration record also lists abuse@cosmotown.com and a phone number as abuse contacts. Use the portal first.

What evidence does Cosmotown ask for?

  • The clone domain
  • The full domain path of the page you captured
  • One clear screenshot (PNG, JPG or PDF, 2 MB or less)
  • Your location and browser, optional
  • For a trademark report: proof of trademark ownership
  • For a copyright report: a description of your work and your relationship to the copyright holder

our store, [Your Brand] (https://[your-store.com]).

What happens after you report to Cosmotown?

Cosmotown decides what to do.

  • Replies: Cosmotown says: “Due to the high volume of complaints we receive, we may only contact you if additional details are needed.”
  • Timing: not stated by Cosmotown.
  • Trademark disputes: Cosmotown says it “does not determine the merits of trademark or cybersquatting disputes” and that a demand letter “does not authorize Cosmotown to take control of a domain name.” It points to the UDRP or a court. See UDRP complaints.

What if Cosmotown does not act?

ICANN requires registrars to “promptly take the appropriate mitigation action(s)” when they have actionable evidence of DNS abuse, such as phishing. After a fair wait, file an ICANN DNS abuse complaint. Show that you reported to Cosmotown first.

For .shop clones, also report to the .shop registry.

Let Recon prepare the reports

Recon is a Shopify app that watches for clones of your store. On every plan, it finds who to report each clone to and writes the notices for you to review and send. Early access on Pro: one click, and Recon files the reports for you. Cosmotown, the host or the registry still decides whether to remove a site. Recon never removes sites itself.

Add Recon to Shopify, or run a free website check first.
