Clones of your store that Recon found on new domains, and the live sites it checked on names built from your brand. Plus typos, other endings and added words.
Your SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX records, and whether mail that forges your address gets rejected.
Your certificate, three public threat lists, and when your domain registration renews.
Three things. Clones and lookalikes: Recon checks new domains every day for sites built from your store, and lists the clones it found. We also list the typos, other endings and added words of your domain that are registered. Email: we read your public SPF, DKIM, DMARC and MX records. Domain health: certificate, three public threat lists (Google Web Risk, SURBL and URLhaus), and when your domain registration renews.
Often, yes. Recon checks new domains every day and compares their sites with your store. The report lists each clone it found, and any that were taken down. The check cannot find a clone on an address that looks nothing like yours. The Recon app’s optional theme block records a clone the moment your store’s code loads on any other domain.
No. Many are parked, for sale, or owned by you or an unrelated business. The report says what each page showed when we checked. Treat an address that only looks like yours as a lead to review, not proof.
The custom domain your customers use, such as yourstore.com. Do not enter your myshopify.com address. Shopify manages those records, so the results would not describe settings you can change.
No. It only reads public information. Nothing is installed and you do not need an account.
Yes. Each report has its own link that works for 30 days. You can copy the link, email it to whoever manages your domain, or print it and save it as a PDF.
Save a dated screenshot of the page with the address bar showing, and do not enter any details on it. Then report it to the host and the domain registrar. If it runs on Shopify, use Shopify’s reporting forms. Our guide on reporting a fake Shopify store explains which form fits.
The free check is one snapshot. The app keeps watching: weekly lookalike scans on Free and daily on Paid, plus clone detection through the theme block. Paid sends instant clone alerts. Both plans prepare a notice for you to review and send. Paid is $50/month or $480/year with a 14-day trial.
